And The Rest in the Community

Very often working in the community is framed as ‘lesser than’ the ‘Proper Art’.

We don’t believe that. We are all in the community.

Just as we celebrate the whole village of artists it takes to make a production, so And The Rest celebrates the creativity and skills hidden in plain sight amongst the more marginalised or vulnerable members of the community - particularly those impacted by mental health and addiction.

Sometimes this is through workshops specifically for vulnerable groups, which wrap around our shows.

Sometimes it is in production with vulnerable people as active collaborators in the centre of the shows.

We don’t have a fixed approach.

Instead we are always looking at creative ways of bridging that gap between the industry and the community so that our work is made with people, not at people.
